THE SCHEDULE
Shoo! In one school day I see a class from each grade level (K-5). All grade levels/classes are on a 4 day rotation (ABCD). If it all seems confusing (believe me it can be!) you can ask another Special Area teacher (music, library, or gym) or the front office will try to help.
ROUTINES
Teachers will send their classes to the art room from the intermediate doors and pick them up from the primary doors. It can be hectic during these transitions, so make sure you are well aware of time!
As students enter the art room they should follow the white line to sit on the floor (K-2) or sit in their seats (3-5). You will find the class folder with a roster and seating chart located on my desk (they are clipped together according to the letter day). There is no need to take attendance or call roll in any class.
The chairs are numbered 1-4 at each table, and can be handy for passing out materials and supplies. I frequently call on different numbers to pick up and put away things to give them responsibilities and less arguing over who can do what. The tables are also assigned colors, which comes in handy if you need a small group to perform tasks (such as lining up or getting paper).
Clean up from any project generally takes the last 5-10 minutes of class. Things must be put away before another class comes in.

NEED TO KNOW
The classroom phone is on the black shelf by my desk and an extension list is right above it. To make an outside call, please dial 9 first.
The doors to the building and classroom remain LOCKED AT ALL TIMES. No student is allowed to be outside without and escort/supervision. Students are NOT allowed to leave the art room for any reason. If there is an emergency (student gets sick/injured) you must call the front office for an escort to come and retrieve the student.
For emergency drills (fire, tornado, lockdown) or an actual emergency, please refer to the clipboard hanging to the left of the door and take it with you. Administration is looking to see the green card if all students are accounted for/red if they are not (attached to the clipboard as well as class roster and diagrams on where to go).
